NOW Music ha anunciado que 1991 será el próximo año de la ya longeva serie del Anuario .
Incluye 78 canciones en cuatro CD y está disponible en las versiones de lujo y estándar habituales (la primera incluye un libro de tapa dura de lujo con un libreto de 28 páginas con notas pista por pista). Una versión de 3 LP en vinilo amarillo incluye 43 canciones.
El primer CD empieza con George Michael y Elton John (puedes adivinar la canción) e incluye grandes éxitos del mismísimo Chesney Hawkes, Seal ('Crazy'), REM ('Shiny Happy People'), Simply Red ('Stars'), Cathy Dennis (Touch Me (All Night Long)) y más. Los Pet Shop Boys aparecen dos veces en el Anuario 1991 con 'Jealousy' (el cuarto y último sencillo de Behaviour ) en este primer disco y más tarde en el CD 4 con su popurrí 'Where The Streets Have No Name (I Can't Take My Eyes Off You)'.
El disco 2 incluye "3am Eternal" de The KLF, más Seal (su versión de "Killer") y un montón de éxitos de clubes crossover de artistas como C+C Music Factory , Rozalla, K-Klass, Utah Saints, Oceanic y Brothers In Rhythm. Este disco también incluye la irritante, pero molestamente pegadiza, "Gyspy Woman (She's Homeless) (La Da Dee La Da Da)" de Crystal Waters , el excelente "Can I Kick It?" de A Tribe Called Quest, antes de terminar con "I Wanna Sex You Up" de Color Me Badd.
El CD 3 incluye "All This Time" de Sting, "Mercy Mercy Me/I Want You" de Robert Palmer, "The Whole of the Moon" de The Waterboys, "I Wanna Be Adored" de The Stone Roses y "Fall at Your Feet" de Crowded House. Los dos últimos temas se agrupan a la perfección con "More Than Words" de Extreme , seguido de "Wind of Change" de Scorpions.
The KLF regresan en el cuarto disco con "Justified and Ancient" de Tammy Wynette (que el mío sea un 99, ¿por qué no?) y nos recuerda que Boy George tuvo un éxito con "Bow Down Mister" bajo el nombre de Jesus Loves You. Mi memoria me dice que fue un gran éxito, pero la "realidad" señala que en realidad alcanzó un modesto puesto número 27 en el Reino Unido. El brillante "Baby Baby" de Amy Grant aparece aquí, al igual que "Shocked" de Kylie Minogue, "Jump to the Beat" de su hermana Danni, "Change" de Lisa Stansfield y el extraño artefacto histórico que es The Grease Megamix, que une todos esos éxitos de John Travolta y Olivia Newton-John 12 años después de la película. Esto me hace pensar en cómo se salieron con la suya con el "vagón del coño" en la televisión a la hora del té. El anuario de 1991 termina con otro 'Crazy' pero esta vez no es Seal, es Patsy Cline cantando el clásico de Willie Nelson.
